Hibble
Industries was founded in 1936 by Myles Hibble at the age of 21. Myles borrowed money from his father to start the Automatic Screw Company in the old fire station in Mitchell Road, Glebe. His first order was to produce electrical components for AWA, an affiliation which would endure for more than half a century.
During World War II the factory was taken over for the war effort and produced firing pins, rifle sights and other essential material.
In 1952 the factory moved into new premises in Garnet Street, Rockdale. This was more than merely a larger factory. Its opening heralded a change in outlook with the acquisition of the latest technology, which brought a significant advancement in production techniques. In 1965 Myles' son Warwick started training with his father.
By 1979 it became clear that, once again, larger premises were required. New premises were purchased at Wyong on the NSW Central Coast, and commenced operation in 1980 under the name Hibble Industries, with Warwick controlling the operation.
The move to Wyong saw more radical change with the purchase of the latest CNC equipment, a 3 axis lathe. The company has continued this trend with the purchase of the latest technology CNC equipment available, now totaling eight machines.
Myles passed away in 1999 after a long and distinguished career. Warwick, now joined by his two sons Daniel and Angus, is leading the company into future.
